You May Lose Your Job to Robots

The Robots are Coming, the Robots are Coming!

In 2005, Daniel H. Pink released A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future.  In it, he describes that the Agricultural Age, Industrial Age and Information Age will be followed by the Conceptual Age.  In the Conceptual Age, because of “Asia, automation (robots) and abundance”, Pink says creative thinking will be the most valuable commodity.  Those who can see the big picture, design and tell a story that engages their own and others’ emotions, intuition and sense of purpose to think creatively and dynamically will be successful.

This piece by The Economist acknowledges that part of what’s influencing today’s global unemployment and the income disparity between rich and poor is technology.  As with the advent of other technological advances (robots), many will have to to adapt.  That’s not easy, but it’s the truth.

Creative thinking coursers, such as those taught by The Thinking Business and Coursera.org will be valuable to anyone looking for a job or with a job that can easily be replaced by a computer.
